Yoshinoya in Singapore has been associated with tiny restaurants or just booths selling basically rice bowls with meat and vegetables. However, in recent years, Yoshinoya has been rolling out its new concept outlets in Singapore with a new concept menu. The new outlets are more spacious and have a contemporary feel. Yoshinoya at Duo Galleria is one of the new concept outlets and it offers, in addition to the signature rice bowls, cakes, fish bowls, curry rice, ramen and affordable set meals.
Located on the ground level of Duo Galleria, Yoshinoya is a quick service restaurant with a modern Japanese cafe style decor. Tables are reasonably well spaced out and seats are comfortable. In Singapore, you know an F&B outlet has a pleasant and conducive atmosphere when you see students studying there; and we have seen students in Yoshinoya Duo Galleria.
Yoshinoya Duo Galleria is a self-service restaurant. You place your order and pay at the counter and collect your food when the number on your receipt is flashed on the electronic screen. There are self-service drink dispensers and a counter for utensils and condiments.
Yoshinoya New Concept Menu
Yoshinoya has refreshed its menu and added new items such as seafood, curry rice and ramen. There are also set meals, kid’s set and dainty set in addition to special promotion items from time to time. Below are pictures of the menu boards. The link to their online menu is at the end of this post.
Dinner at Yoshinoya Duo Galleria
We have dinner at Yoshinoya Duo Galleria recently. We ordered the Karage Don ($8.90) and the festive special set ($8.90) which comprised the Teriyaki Chicken Don and a drink. The wait for the food was less than 10 minutes.
Karage Don was bite-size pieces of marinated fried chicken on top of a bowl of good quality Japanese rice. There were assorted multi-coloured vegetables and mushroom.
The Teriyaki Chicken Don was essentially the same except that instead of fried chicken there was a fairly generous portion of juicy grilled chicken topped with a savoury and sweet teriyaki sauce. Both the rice bowls were nice and tasty. At that price point, we think it will be difficult to find better rice bowls that can match the quality and taste of Yoshinoya’s offerings.
Affordable wholesome balanced meal
We like Yoshinoya’s new concept outlets and new concept menu. The dining space is pleasant and comfortable. The menu offers sufficient variety. The food looks attractive and tastes good. A Yoshinoya’s meal is an affordable wholesome balanced meal – which can be enjoyable too.
