Real Food Orchard Central is a cafe set up by the people of the organic grocery shop Real Food Grocer. The vegetarian cafe serves food with “No processed ingredients, No Artificial Preservatives and No Trans-fat”. We had visited their outlet at South Beach Singapore and thought that it was quite a nice place (read about our visit here). We recently stopped by at the Orchard Road outlet and it looks even better!
Real Food Orchard Central benefits from having more space and lots of sunlight. The dining space is beautiful, some may even describe it as glamourous. The decor is simply and tastefully done up. We like the different seating options and the generous spaces in between tables.
There is a retail space at the front of the Real Food Orchard restaurant. This is where they sell healthy foodstuff. They have a wide selection – from snacks to milk and fresh vegetables.
Real Food Orchard Central Menu
Here are pictures of some pages from the Real Food Orchard Central Menu. What is the difference between vegan and vegetarian? I had to do some internet research to learn more about this subject. This website probably provides a good short answer. Vegans are vegetarians who avoid all animal and animal-derived products. Real Food’s menu contains no meat but there are many dishes using eggs. Some dishes have vegan options.
For drinks we had a long black coffee ($4.50) and a “Nourish Your Heart” smoothie ($8.80). The coffee was fine but not rich in flavour. The healthy smoothie was rather expensive (it costs more than my food dish). It contained a lot of good stuff such as fresh avocado, cold pressed coconut oil, organic flaxseed oil etc. It had a pleasant, mild taste.
The fried brown rice ($8.50) was a small plate of organic brown rice stir fried with various vegetables. The portion size was small, but was adequate. I think we should be eating meals of this size (and no larger) in future. The taste was good and clean. I think we can do without having meat in fried rice.
The Rise and Shine Breakfast ($14.90) was like a regular breakfast platter less the usual ham and bacon items. Buried under the salad were the two sunny side eggs and some potato salad. You can’t go wrong with fried eggs and baked beans so it was quite an enjoyable dish but it did not feel special.
