Like many curious visitors, we managed to find time to take a quick look at the newest wonder in town – Jewel at Changi Airport. Enough has been said about the long queues for the much talked-about restaurants, Shake Shack and A&W. We were more interested to find out more about the restaurants that we are not familiar with. Here is a quick look at the less talked about, but interesting Jewel Changi Airport Restaurants that we would want to try in future visits.
Jewel Changi Airport Layout
Before we go into the restaurants, a simplified description of the whole place. Everything is laid out in rings. The centre of the ring is the HSBC Rain Vortex. It pours down from the top of the dome to the basement levels. Above ground level, there is a ring of forest (the Shiseido Forest Valley) around the vortex and a larger ring of shops and facilities forms around the forest. In the basement levels, there is no forest and so the space around the vortex is usable for shops and restaurants. A glass (or perspex?) wall keeps the water under control in the basement.

Tiger Street Lab
We start our list of interesting Jewel Changi Airport Restaurants with a couple of restaurants that are located at the top, the canopy level of the Jewel. Tiger Street Lab is “Tiger’s first curated experience for locals and tourists alike, bringing to life ideas that appeal to consumers, such as unique beer flavours and customised merchandise”. They have roped in famous tze char folks Keng Eng Kee Seafood to provide the food to go with the booze. The must try dishes are the coffee pork ribs and moonlight horfun. Read about our visit here.

Herit8ge
Herit8ge was another restaurant on level 5 of the Jewel Changi Airport that caught our eye. They serve western cuisine with local influences. It would be interesting to see if the East meets West combination is successful.

Jewel Changi Airport Restaurants at Basement 2 (B2 Level)
Because there is no forest below ground level, the entire area around the fountain is used up. Level B2 felt like the most congested area. It also has the highest concentration of food places and restaurants. Located at B2 of Jewel Changi are big tenants like Fairprice Finest and Shaw Theatre IMAX.
There are three categories of F & B outlets at Level B2 of Jewel Changi Airport – the Food Hall, Five Spices food court and individual shops. The Jewel Food Hall is a collection of food stalls that sell food but with no dining area. Shoppers can carry their buns or snacks and munch as they shop. Five Spices is organised like the usual shopping mall food court.
Hawker by No Signboard
Among the many stalls in the Food Hall, we chanced upon a stall named “Hawker” by the seafood restaurant No Signboard. It sells burgers and buns. We would want to try the chilli crab bun in the near future.
Individual Food Outlets / Restaurants at Jewel B2
The famous A&W is located at B2. It is a 24 hours restaurant and there was a still a queue when we were there at around 10 pm. Many famous restaurants are there, such as Song Fa Ba Kut Teh etc.
These are the ones that we found to be interesting and worth a try in the future.
Pow Sing @ Jewel Changi Airport
The famous chicken rice restaurant at Serangoon Gardens has set up a branch at Jewel. It certainly looked well patronised.

Four Seasons Durians Restaurant
We were not sure what to make of the Four Seasons Durians Restaurant at Jewel. It is obvious that they specialise in durians and durian products. There is even a durian hotpot dish and a sealed room where diners can eat fresh durians. But there is also a large restaurant space and regular food such as pasta and fish & chips are on the menu. We are curious to try the durian hotpot one day.

Faai Di by Ka Soh
Ka Soh Restaurant, famous for their fish soup bee hoon and har chion kai, has opened a casual diner Faai Di. We are not sure if they are part of the Five Spice Food Court or is a separate place. They do have a separate enclosed area but share the same type of furniture.

O’TAH
O’TAH at Jewel Changi Airport is a new concept by local F&B group Lee Wee & Brothers. There are also O’TAH Fries, Burger with mackerel fish patty and also the Pesto Salmon Nasi Lemak.
