Tapas Club VivoCity (Closed)

Tapas Club VivoCity is a relatively new restaurant at the popular shopping mall near HarbourFront MRT station. It opened at the beginning of 2019 and takes over the space that was vacated by another Spanish restaurant – Serenity. The new Tapas Club VivoCity enjoys the same spacious layout and the sea view towards Sentosa as its predecessor.

There are different configurations for seating within the air-conditioned space at Tapas Club VivoCity. The outdoor tables get a better view of Sentosa, but the al fresco area is probably hot and glaring for many people in the daytime.

The Tapas Club VivoCity Menu

The Tapas Club menu looked familiar to us as we had been to their other outlet at Orchard Central.

Here is a sample page from the menu. We did not have any paella that day. Instead, we confined ourselves to the tapas during this visit, ordering an assortment of these small plates for sharing.

A couple of bread dishes were appropriate to start our lunch. Both the homemade bread with tomato ($6, above picture) and the garlic prawns ($13.90, picture below) were well received.

Another set of tapas followed – chorizo and quail egg on toast ($13.90) and mushroom croquettes ($10.90). These were more interesting. The former in particular was attractively presented.

Fearful that the tapas might not be enough of a meal, we had a couple of more substantial items – the beef burgers with padron pepper ($13.90) and Spanish omelette with asparagus ($9.90).  The burgers were small, like sliders. The padron pepper in each of them gave them a Spanish character. The omelette is one of the tapas that we frequently order and it did not disappoint. These were quite heavy dishes and ensured that we did not feel hungry for the rest of the afternoon.

Tapas Club VivoCity Tapas

Overall we were happy with the food at the relatively new Tapas Club Vivo City outlet (it is not the newest, that honour goes to the one that just opened at the Jewel in Changi Airport). It had the same consistent food quality as what we experienced at Orchard Central. However, we missed the friendly and helpful service that we experienced in the first Tapas Club.
