The Orchard Road ice-cream stall seemed like the most popular eatery in Singapore’s Orchard Road. A 20-metre queue was the longest we have seen in this area as we passed by Takashimaya recently.
Singapore’s Favourite Ice Cream
There are more than one sellers of Orchard Road ice cream. This one was parked in front of Wisma Atria, just before the civic plaza of Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Lucky Plaza is across the road. This ice cream stand has a yellow umbrella with the words “Singapore’s favourite ice cream”. There could be some truth in these words as this could be the longest ice cream queue we have seen in Singapore.
There was an article about ice cream sellers along Orchard Road in the Straits Times. Comparing the pictures of the ice cream stands in the article, we believe our pictures match one of the sellers featured in the article – Mr Tan Ah Hock who has been selling ice-cream since 1967 (Straits Times Sep 2019).
Orchard Road Ice Cream Prices
Here is a picture of the ice cream menu. The ice cream sandwiches cost $1.50 each and come in different flavours. Everyone seemed so happy when they got their ice cream. It was nice to see such cheerful activity along Orchard Road.
