Unabara Grilled Fish at Leisure Park Kallang

うなばら Unabara Grilled Fish is a new casual dining restaurant in Leisure Park Kallang. It specializes in the traditional Grilled Fish Teishoku and is a pleasant place to enjoy a balanced and satisfying meal.

Teishoku

Teishoku (定食) is a Japanese set meal that usually consists of a main dish, rice, miso soup, and pickles. Unabara Grilled Fish works directly with regional suppliers to source fresh, seasonal produce from the ocean to offer healthy mains served with Niigata rice, miso soup and a variety of side dishes.

Grilled fish teishoku is Unabara’s specialty. However, the menu of the Japanese casual dining restaurant also has a la carte and non-fish dishes such as gyudon and beef curry donburi.

The casual dining restaurant also offers special and seasonal items such as Premium Kagoshima Wagyu A4, Tempura Soft Shell Crab, and Lobster with Miso Yaki or Mentaiko.

Lunch at Unabara Grilled Fish

We visited Unabara Grilled Fish for lunch recently and ordered the Pacific Sea Bream Shioyaki Set ($14.80) and Curry Beef Donburi ($17.80).

The fish set was included a bowl of rice, miso soup and three side dishes. They were served all at the same time on a tray.

The salt-grilled Pacific Sea Bream had crispy skin with flesh that was moist and tender. It was delicious. The only issue with it was that the fish had many tiny bones. It would be a fish to enjoy at a leisurely pace.

The Curry Beef Donburi was a Japanese curry beef dish with some rice. Hidden in the thick curry sauce were pieces of carrot, potato and onions. There was a generous portion of sliced beef. The beef slices were tender and flavourful. The curry sauce was rich and creamy with a a good tinge of sweetness and spice. Everything combined well for a comforting and satisfying meal.

Good Affordable Meal

If you are in the vicinity of Leisure Park Kallang, the Indoor Stadium or National Stadium and want a simple affordable healthy meal, Unabara Grilled Fish will be a good option. It has a pleasant space with a fair range of reasonably priced set meals.
