Etna Italian Restaurant at East Coast Singapore is one of their two outlets. The other one is in Duxton. On a quiet weekday, this was a perfect place in Singapore to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a white table cloth restaurant at a reasonable price. Which is a combination that is becoming very rare these days.
Quiet Italian Restaurant at East Coast Road Singapore
Some folks have always lived in the East side of Singapore. Apart from the sea view, food is the other reason for the attachment to the East. I can see why. On the same stretch of East Coast Road along we can find numerous food choices ranging from famous hawker food such as Beach Road Prawn Noodles to this prim and proper Italian restaurant.
Etna Italian Restaurant is located on the ground floor of a mixed use development which has residential apartments upstairs and shops on the ground floor. There are parking lots in the basement. But on a quiet weekday, it is possible to find free roadside parking lots along the side roads beside the building.
Etna Italian Restaurant East Coast Menu
Here are pictures of some pages from the Etna Italian Restaurant menu. There is a good selection of Italian classics of antipasti, pasta, pizza and mains.
On weekdays they have a Set Lunch Menu that costs $27.80++ per person. Here is a picture of the Etna Italian Restaurant set lunch menu. Since it looks like good value for money we decided to try it.
Italian Cuisine in East Coast
Bread and Appetisers
Cubes of bread, nicely toasted were served at the start of lunch. Together with vinegar and olive oil, these were nice snacks while we wait for the food to arrive.
Our choice of appetiser was Caprese salad. Sometimes the salad served at affordable set lunch places tend to be a basic bunch of leaves with a splash of salad dressing. We were glad to see that this salad at Etna – small but elegantly presented. Sliced tomato, mozarella is a good refreshing dessert to have on a hot Singapore afternoon.
Etna Italian Restaurant Lunch : Main Course
Our choices of main courses were oven-baked sea bream with citrus salad and beef striploin with mashed potato and red wine sauce.
Both items were well presented and tasted good. They were small and looked even smaller in the large white plates. Those with large appetites may have to order something else to supplement the lunch, but they were adequate for us.
Dessert and Coffee
There was only one dessert available. I believe it is panna cotta. A classic Italian custard which had a rich creamy taste.
We were happy to see coffee included in the set lunch as it adds to the cost of lunch by around $6. We ordered cappuccino which was robust and a good contrast with the sweetness of the dessert.
Overall, lunch at Etna exceeded our expectation. This is a restaurant we would surely make a return visit to.
