OSO Ristorante Oasia Hotel Downtown sits on level 27, the highest floor of the hotel at Tanjong Pagar. “Taking fine Italian cuisine to a high level” is probably a fitting description of this beautiful Italian restaurant at Tanjong Pagar, Singapore.
New Italian Restaurant at Oasia Hotel Downtown
Occupying the entire rooftop level of the hotel, OSO Ristorante has a view of the swimming pool and the rooftop garden. It has also made good use of its unique location to create a nicely decorated restaurant with interesting dining areas and private zones.
The Macallan Room (picture below), for example, is a cosy place for 8 to 10 pax. A minimum spending is required for booking this space ($500 for lunch and $1000 for dinner).
Other parts of the restaurant are also classy and attractive.
OSO Ristorante Oasia Menu
The OSO Ristorante menu felt heavy and substantial. Together with the rest of the table setting and white table cloth, it gave us a good impression of the restaurant.
A good range of classic Italian dishes can be found in the menu. Catering to the busy office crowd working in the busy Tanjong Pagar and Shenton Way area, there is an affordable $38++ set lunch menu : Lunch da OSO, which was what we tried on this visit.
Lunch da OSO – 3 Course Set Lunch at OSO Ristorante Oasia Hotel Downtown
Some nice bread were served at the start of lunch, together with olive oil and vinegar.
Starters
Our starters were Burrata with Warm Black Truffle Sauce, Crab Meat Timbale with Vegetables Puree “Scapece”,
In Sea Urchin Sabayon and Thick Corn ‘Mais’ Soup with Shredded Chicken.
Out of these three, the consensus was that the soup was not bad but too predictable. The burrata (picture above) and Crab Meat Timbale were more interesting.
Main Courses
There are two words to describe all the main courses at our lunch at OSO Ristorante Oasia Hotel Downtown: Good and Small.
Both the pasta dishes: Tagliolini “Gluten Free” Corn Flour Pasta (picture above) and the Ravioli Porcini Mushrooms Pasta (picture below) were not the typical Italian pasta dishes on set lunch menus in Singapore. The texture was nice and chewy and the taste was pleasant.
Similarly the two seafood / meat dishes : Prawns In Eggplant Parmigiana (picture above) and Pork Belly ‘Porchetta’ Slow-Cooked in Red Wine Sauce (picture below) were very enjoyable. But the portions were tiny. Which might be a good thing for those who need to go back to work without the feeling of being stuffed.
Desserts
Our desserts were Venezuelan 85% Single Origin Dark Chocolate (picture above) and Mascarpone Mousse Served with Caramel “Mou” Sauce. The chocolate was super concentrated and rich. You can guess that we liked the chocolate better! Overall, it was a light lunch at a posh Italian restaurant in Tanjong Pagar.
