La Pizzaiola @ Bukit Timah is an Italian restaurant along the busy Bukit Timah Road. We must have passed by it many times as we travelled down Bukit Timah Road but have not noticed it prior to this visit. This restaurant is about 350m (a five minute walk away) from the Nissan service centre down the road.
Italian Restaurant in Bukit Timah
There are quite a few options if one is looking for Italian food in the Bukit Timah Road area. Restaurants such as Braceria, LINO @ Binjai Park, iO Italian Osteria, Rubato and Amano come to mind. We recently discovered another one – La Pizzaiola @ Bukit Timah. It is one of three outlets that this Italian restaurant has in Singapore.
Although it has a Bukit Timah Road address, the restaurant is only directly accessible from the main road on foot. Those driving here will have to get there via Elm or Cherry Avenue. It is located in a cul-de-sac near the Elm Avenue / Cherry Ave junction. Once inside, the restaurant felt larger and more spacious than when seen from outside.
La Pizzaiola @ Bukit Timah Menu
A full set of the restaurant menu is available online (link at the end of this post). Here are a couple of screen shots for your quick reference. Pizza and pasta items form the main part of the menu, together with some antipasti and a few meat items.
What We Ate For Lunch
Our lunch started with Portobello with Mozzarella e Tartufo ($19.90). The baked portobello mushroom with mozzarella cheese and black truffle was a tasty starter. Without any oiliness, it also felt like a healthy dish.
Pasta Dishes at La Pizzaiola @ Bukit Timah
We ordered a few pasta dishes for sharing. Lasagna ($22.90), homemade ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and spinach in butter ($18.90), homemade squid-ink tagliolini with crabmeat and tomato in white wine ($22.90) and spaghetti with mixed seafood in tomato sauce ($24.90).
It was a colourful mix of pasta with very different sauces. Each one were generally good and enjoyable, but different folks had different preferences. For me the best was the squid ink pasta because of the rich and flavourful dark squid ink sauce.
My least favourite item was the spaghetti which had a nice but unremarkable tomato-based sauce.
Dessert
After all that pasta, only a small quantity of dessert would suffice to complete the meal. A classic lava cake served with milk ice cream, crumble, and caramel sauce ($14.90) and the dessert of the day. We thought that the desserts were average, not as good as the pasta. Overall, we were pleased to have found this Italian restaurant at Bukit Timah, a place we would certainly return to. Friendly and helpful staff made our visit even more enjoyable.
