La Braceria Italian Restaurant - Suitable Takeaway / Delivery Items

Like other restauarants, La Braceria Italian Restaurant at Watten Estate, Singapore is now closed for dine-in but their nice pizzas and pasta dishes are available for takeaway or delivery via Deliveroo. This post is about our lunch days before the 2021 May lockdown. They have items which are suitable for takeaway or delivery.

La Braceria Italian Restaurant is located along Greendale Road. It is just around the corner from the main cluster of restaurants at Greenwood Ave in the residential Watten Estate, off Bukit Timah Road. Because of its location it is less visible than the other Italian restaurants such as Peperoni and Rubato. For this reason it seems to have a more relaxed and laid back atmosphere. There is an outdoor dining section (picture above) which is so highly sheltered by awnings that it is virtually weatherproof. The airconditoned indoor dining room (picture below) is more suitable on a hot Singapore afternoon.

The bread served at the start of the meal made a good first impression. Like a cross between naan and pizza crust, it was toasty yet chewy. It went very well with the olive oil and vinegar.

We chose the simplest of pizza – the Margherita pizza which is priced at $19.26 on the La Braceria Delivery delivery menu. With just tomato, mozarella and fresh basil, this is a pizza which we could taste the crust and each of the elements of the pizza. It was very good. We would probably order this for takeaway instead of the pricier pizzas with more cheese or seafood and meat toppings. We think that a simple pizza has less chance of getting spoiled and will be easier to heat up (if necessary) at home.

For those without a convection oven, our other dishes may be a good idea as they can be easily warmed up in the microwave. The layered eggplant with tomato sauce and cheese ($17.12 delivery price) was like a lasagna-lite without the meat.

Our final dish was linguine tossed with crab meat with light bisque sauce ($25.68 delivery price). It was a very good pasta with a complex seafood sauce. It is a more fragile dish than the other two and we fear it may not do so well as a takeaway, unless the trip is quite short.
