Kampong Glam is a popular destination for food lovers hunting down something a bit special. Tucked away on Jalan Pisang, the same street that is home to the famous Hjh Maimunah – you will find Chix Hot Chicken, a casual restaurant offering Nashville-style fried chicken.

ChixHot Chicken at Jalan Pisang
Chix currently has two outlets: one on Jalan Pisang and another on Prinsep Street. There is a sprinkle of stardust on Chix Hot Chicken as it is co-owned by Taufik Batisah, the local singer-songwriter best known for winning the first season of Singapore Idol. The Straits Times reported recently that Taufik would be staging his first solo concert titled Taufik Batisah: One Last Dance at The Star Theatre on 25 Oct 2025.

Chix Hot Chicken occupies a corner shophouse unit at Jalan Pisang. The old shophouse is one of those small narrow ones. The dining space inside is compact, far too small for the crowds this place draws. The owners have sorted this by spilling out into the side lane. There is something rather special about sitting in this little alleyway, eating fried chicken in modern Singapore. It adds to the charm and hip factor of CHIX at Kampong Glam.

Inside, the look is deliberately rough around the edges. There are art on the walls and a few quirky touches that suggest someone young, or young at heart, put this together. They arranged the tables so you can eat with a group or alone without feeling awkward about it.
Chix at Jalang Pisang is a down-to-earth eatery with a laid-back feel. It is the sort of restaurant place where you can forget your manners and eat however makes you feels comfortable — with a knife and fork or just diving in with your fingers.

Menu of Chix

The menu at CHIX features boneless Nashville-style fried chicken. The chicken is marinated, battered, fried and then coated in a dry rub or hot sauce. Patrons can choose from five original sliders. Options range from the simple Soul Slider with pickles, to the bolder Pepperjack with cheese and yuzu sauce. The Big Buns section offers larger sandwiches with extras like bacon, eggs, and a variety of cheeses.
You can select your preferred level of spiciness. It starts from mild to what the menu calls “atomic”, at 2 million units on the Scoville Scale.
The menu also offers wings, tenders, and sides to round things out. There are some interesting shakes including a Gula Melaka shake. Chix menu also includes meat-free alternatives.

Big Buns at Chix
We ordered The Ranch Big Bun ($13.90) and Bacon & Eggs Big Bun ($16.90). We also paid a top up of $6.90 to get a soft drink and coleslaw.

Each sandwich came in a buttered bun with a boneless fried chicken thigh. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist inside.
The Ranch Big Bun included fresh lettuce, which added a nice crunch. Tangy pickles gave a sharp contrast that made the chicken even more enjoyable. The ranch sauce’s smooth, tangy creaminess acted as a pleasant palate soother. Altogether, the combination of elements created a well-balanced mix of flavours and textural contrasts. It was a satisfying dish. Good comfort food.

The Bacon & Eggs Big Bun comprised fried chicken, cheddar cheese, chicken bacon and a fried egg, dressed with a sweet chilli aioli. The savoury cheddar and bacon paired with the slightly spicy, slightly sweet sauce to create flavours that felt familiar but had layers of depth. It was a hearty and satisfying chicken burger.
