It is advisable to make a reservation at popular Holland Village cafe Frankie & Fern’s when going for brunch there. This trendy cafe at the top floor of the elderly Holland Road Shopping Centre has the atmosphere and charm that is hard to find in the new and shining malls nearby.

Popular Holland Village Cafes
Our last visit to Frankie & Fern’s was in 2024 when it last opened. You can find more information and pictures about the cafe in our 2024 post. Understandably, as a new cafe, it was bustling and full when we were there. But it seems that the magic has been sustained. After an unsuccessful attempt to make a revisit, we made sure that we had a reservation on hand before going there this time.

Another top hit cafe at Holland V is Lola’s Holland Cafe. These cafes seemed to have to have been full since the day they opened and have kept going strong.

Caffé Beviamo at One Holland Village mall is another favourite of residents nearby. It is more accessible because of its long opening hours of 9am to 9pm, but we still try to go there at off-peak hours.

Frankie & Fern’s Holland Village Cafe Brunch Menu
Here are pictures of the F & F weekend brunch menu. On this visit we selected the Frankie’s breakfast ($28), Portobello toast ($18), Fern’s Avocado toast ($19) and Ribeye Steak and Eggs ($34)

Brunch at Holland Village
We liked the portobello toast on our previous visit. It was remarkable that one year later, the same item has remained very much the same – taste, presentation and price. The consistency at Frankie and Fern’s is commendable. I think this is possibly one big factor contributing to it being such a popular Holland Village cafe.

Fern’s avocado toast (pictured below) was enhanced by sun-dried tomatoes, burrata cheese, chickpeas and rosemary-pickled soy tomatoes. This healthy item could also be a snack or a light breakfast item.

If you played the Sesame Street game “one of these things is not like the others” at Frankie and Fern’s, the Frankie’s breakfast (picture below) will clearly be the one. The other items were all nicely arranged and very photogenic, but this dish was just an assembly of the listed ingredients served on a plate. Scrambled eggs, kale with crumbled feta, thick cut bacon, pork sausage, tomato, roasted portobello and toasted sourdough were all there. But it seems they were all not speaking to each other.

Steak and eggs was a more coherent dish and one that enabled me to hit my protein quota for the day. The meat was soft and flavorful. We would order this again.
