Din Tai Fung has opened a new restaurant at ION Orchard. The Taiwanese chain, known for its xiao long bao, welcomed diners from 29 August 2026. The outlet sits at #B4-03, ION Orchard, 2 Orchard Turn, Singapore 238801.
Unlike its more recent outlets, this restaurant does not follow Din Tai Fung’s usual template. Instead, it draws its design from the brand’s very first shop on Xinyi Road in Taipei. The result is a cosier, more intimate space with 100 seats across 3,000 square feet.

From Oil Shop To Global Name

Din Tai Fung’s story began in 1958, when Mr Yang Bing-Yi opened a small shop in Taipei selling cooking oil. When demand for cooking oil fell in the early 1970s, he began making xiao long bao out of half the shop. That side venture grew into the restaurant chain diners know today.
The brand arrived in Singapore in 2003. It now has branches across many markets, including Thailand, the UK, China, Japan and the US. BreadTalk Group, which also owns Toast Box and Food Republic, runs more than 40 Din Tai Fung outlets across Singapore, Thailand and the UK.
What Makes The ION Orchard Outlet Different

The ION Orchard restaurant features a heritage wall that traces the brand’s history, from oil shop to its present-day footprint. It also has a replica of Din Tai Fung’s original signboard, which reads “Din Tai Fung Oil Retail”. This is the first time the brand has recreated and displayed this signboard at any of its Singapore restaurants.
The opening also marks the debut of Din Tai Fung Singapore’s first local brand film. The 60-second film focuses on the brand’s approach to precision and service.
Menu Highlights: Two Dishes Exclusive To ION Orchard
Diners can still order Din Tai Fung’s familiar classics here, including its signature Steamed Pork Xiao Long Bao, known for its 18 folds. But two dishes on the menu are available only at this outlet.
The first is Noodles with Shrimp & Pork Wantons in Peanut Sesame Sauce (้บป้ ฑ่พ่้ฆ้ฅจ้ข), priced at $14.80. Springy noodles come with hand-wrapped shrimp and pork wantons in a fragrant peanut sesame sauce. The dish draws on everyday Taiwanese home cooking.

The second is Shrimp & Pork Wantons in Spicy Sauce (้ฆ่พฃ่พ่้ฆ้ฅจ), priced at $12.80. This dish takes the familiar comfort of wantons and pairs it with a bolder, spicier sauce.

Diners who spend at least $80 before GST and service charge can also collect a limited edition Bao Zai pouch, while stocks last.
