Shin Yeh Taiwanese Restaurant in Liang Court

Shin Yeh Taiwanese Restaurant

Taiwan has been voted as the top culinary destination in the world (and if you must know, Singapore is not even listed among the top ten list of CNN Travel). Singaporeans can hop on a plane to Taipei to experience the feted Taiwanese food or take a slow bum boat to Clark Quay to savour an extensive selection of authentic Taiwanese dishes at Shin Yeh Taiwanese Restaurant in Liang Court.

New Goldleaf Restaurant (金葉) in Katong Square

Goldleaf Restaurant (金葉) in Katong

Goldleaf Restaurant Katong

We have not been to Goldleaf Restaurant for ages until we decided to look it up at its Amoy Street home just a couple of weeks ago (see our post on Goldleaf Taiwan Porridge Restaurant (金葉) in Amoy Street Singapore). Imagine our surprise when a few days later we saw a sign at Katong Square announcing that Goldleaf Restaurant Katong has opened. As they have dishes that would fit into our current light and healthy eating plan, we decided to have dinner at the new Goldleaf Restaurant in Katong Square.

Goldleaf Taiwan Porridge Restaurant (金葉) in Amoy Street Singapore

Goldleaf Taiwan Porridge Restaurant used to be located in a prominent location along Orchard Road.  According to their website, they were established in 1971. They moved out of Orchard Road in the 90s and has been relocated to several places. They are now currently in a shophouse in Amoy Street. For us, it has been a case of out-of-sight, out-of-mind. The Goldleaf Taiwan Porridge name came up recently and we decided to look it up at its Amoy Street home.

五只小熊 5 Little Bears at Paya Lebar Square

5 Little Bears Taiwanese restaurant

5 Little Bears 五只小熊 is a small Taiwanese restaurant in Paya Lebar Square serving popular Taiwanese food such as Honey Glazed Chicken Chop, Braised Pork Rice, Oyster Vermicelli and Sour Plum Sweet Potato. They also have bubble tea and papaya milk. It is well patronised even though it has only a few tables for dine-in customers. Many are happy to wait in queue for the few seats in the restaurant or to buy to take way. Continue reading →

Dazzling Cafe Singapore at Capitol Piazza

Dazzling Cafe at Capitol

Dazzling Cafe 蜜糖吐司專賣店, the Taiwanese dessert chain, has opened its Singapore branch at the new Capitol Piazza. Dazzling Cafe Singapore seems like it is designed for the instagram generation. The cafe, its food and even its menu all look colourful and dressed-up to be photographed. The food at Dazzling Cafe Singapore is good but not that good that I would wait in line if there should be a long queue.

吃在台北 eat at Taipei in Singapore Sports Hub

eat at Taipei

Taipei is well known for its night market and street food. 吃在台北 eat at Taipei gives us a chance to savour Taiwanese street food and snacks in Singapore. It has several outlets in Singapore and a new one opened in Kallang Wave, Singapore Sports Hub earlier this year. The Kallang Wave outlet is quite attractively decorated with many colourful signs. We think it is quite a good place for a simple casual meal.
