Crystal Jade HK Cafe IN 翡翠香江味力 is a casual dining outlet of the Crystal Jade group. “HK” refers to Hong Kong as the cafe offers Hong Kong food. We cannot figure out the “IN” in the name. However, the most important part of the name must be “Crystal Jade” because it would seem that the very name would draw in the crowd. We went to the outlet in Bedok Mall on a Saturday. It was already quite crowded in the late morning with people having late breakfast or early lunch.
In terms of decor, the Bedok Mall Crystal Jade HK Cafe IN does not look like any Crystal Jade outlet we have seen before. It has a contemporary relax atmosphere. It is located in the basement atrium but the clever use of mirrors, graphics and lighting gives the impression that you are sitting in a cafe overlooking a typical Hong Kong street with bright neon signs.
Crystal Jade HK Cafe IN serves Hong Kong staples, dim sum as well as all day breakfast, Asian and Western dishes and snow ice desserts. A varied menu includes items such as pineapple baked rice, fish with teriyaki sauce, ham & cheese sandwich and duck breast salad. They have value meal sets ranging from $4.50 to $9.80 from 11 am to 5.30 pm on weekdays and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on weekends.
We ordered dry hor fun with sliced beef ($4.80), pan fried rice roll (chee cheong fun) with spicy shrimp paste ($5.20), bean curd skin with minced prawns and pork ($4.20) and deep fried lemongrass chicken wings ($5). We have to wait for about 15 minutes before the dim sum items were served. Free iced water was served and the attentive staff were quick to top up our glasses while we waited for our food. The food was served in sensible portions – just amount the right amount for sharing by two persons with average appetite.
The dried hor fun was average and you could probably get better versions of the dish at most coffee shops and food centres. The spicy rice flour rolls was delicious. The rice flour rolls were silky smooth and soft and the thick sauce was flavourful and had the right amount of spicy kick.
The fresh bean curd skins stuffed with a mixture of minced pork and shrimp is a dim sum staple and the Crystal Jade version is delicious. The most enjoyable item of the day was the deep fried chicken wings. The wings were well marinated and taste of lemongrass was subtle. The chicken wings were well fried to a golden brown and the skin was really crispy. The deep fried lemongrass chicken wings tasted as good as they looked.
Overall, we enjoyed our simple lunch at Crystal Jade HK Cafe IN 翡翠香江味力 in Bedok Mall. There is quite a good variety of food options available at the casual cafe and the best thing may be that you can get good quality Crystal Jade dim sum there.

I’m extremely upset by a waitress for chasing us out repeatedly when we had just finished our meal. She was unable to communicate why she’s doing that
