IndoBox @ Jem, Indonesian restaurant in Jurong East (Closed)

IndoBox Indonesian restaurant Jem - 13

IndoBox @ Jem is a pleasant restaurant serving Indonesian food on level 3.  We had patronised their outlet at Orchard Ion and had a positive experience (read our review here). The IndoBox outlet at Jem is fitted out in the same corporate style – lots of wooden furniture and decorations which together with the warm lighting make the atmosphere very homely and inviting.

With so many food outlets in the Westgate and Jem malls, it is nice to see the lunch time deals that they roll out to get a slice of our wallet.  At IndoBox @ Jem, there is a $10.90 value deal for one main course and a drink. Here is the Value Meal menu as well as pages from the regular menu.

We ordered two Value meals and opted for the Soto Ayam Noodle and Nasi Putih Kari Ayam. For drinks we had the calamansi and bandung soda.

The Nasi Putih Kari Ayam is a bowl of curry chicken with steamed rice. Some peanuts, a fried egg and ikan bilis were also provided with some chilli paste. It reminded us of nasi lemak. The chicken curry was very good. Full of flavours, creamy in texture and not too spicy.  The egg was perfectly cooked and added some colour to the dish.

The soto ayam noodle is a familiar dish in Singapore. The soto ayam at Inbox Indonesia restaurant was a simple noodle dish in chicken broth. A light tasting dish. Perfect if you want to eat something light or something soupy.

The drinks that came with the value meals were the bandung soda and calamansi juice. It has been so long since I had bandung and it brought back some good old memories. This one was jazzed up with the addition of soda. The fizziness did perk up this traditional Indonesian drink. The calamansi juice was citrusy and refreshing. Both were slightly sweeter than we would have liked. Maybe next time we can ask for the syrup can be toned down.

Overall, our simple lunch at IndoBox @ Jem Indonesian restaurant was satisfying and enjoyable.  According to their website,  “All IndoBox cafes are Halal-certified!”
