Lady M at South Beach Avenue is the new cake boutique of the sophisticated confectionery known for its fresh and delightful Mille Crêpes. The cafe has its own South Beach Exclusive – handmade French cake made of many crêpe layers layered with Earl Grey Tea infused pastry cream and garnished with blue cornflowers. Both the Earl Grey Mille Crêpes and the Lady M cake boutique look chic and stylish.
The new Lady M at South Beach is located on the street level of South Beach Avenue. With full height glass panels, the small space has a bright airy feel and it gives the cafe patrons a great view of the city skyline. The modern minimalist interior design creates a graceful serene setting perfect for an afternoon of tea and sweet indulgences.
The Lady M Menu
The usual range of Mille Crêpes, Cakes and Beverages are on the menu of Lady M at South Beach.
There are also seasonal specials and the exclusive Earl Grey Mille Crêpes, which is available for delivery island-wide but pick-up at South Beach Boutique only.
Tea for 3 @ Lady M
We visited Lady M cake boutique for afternoon tea and tried 3 of its cakes. We tried one of their August Special, the Mimosa ($9 for a slice), the South Beach Exclusive, Earl Grey Mille Crêpes ($.950) and the mandatory Signature Mille Crêpes ($9.50). Creme De La Rose ($7), Lady M Iced Grey ($6.50) and Hot Latte ($6) were the beverages we ordered.
The Mimosa was a vanilla sponge cake with layers of custard and topped with delicate cake “cubes.” It was rather ordinary by the high standards we had come to expect of Lady M.
The Earl Grey Mille Crêpes looked more interesting than the Lady M Signature Mille Crêpes but the taste was about the same. The favourite of the 3 cakes we tried would still be the Signature Mille Crêpes. The delicate paper-thin handmade crêpes layered with light velvety pastry cream was simply delicious – as good as we remembered it to be.
The Lady M Iced Grey and Latte were rather forgettable. They were like extras in a movie where the cakes were the stars – they served a function and helped to enrich a scene but you don’t go to the movie to watch the extras. The Creme De La Rose on the other hand would deserve credit as a supporting actress. The creamy cup of tea topped with rose petals looked dainty but packed a punch in terms of fragrance and taste.
Lady M at South Beach is a calm oasis right in the middle of downtown Singapore. On the whole, we had a wonderful time at the new Lady M in South Beach Avenue – good cakes and good ambience. It is a delightful cafe to enjoy casual and sophisticated refreshments any time of day. We feel like we can linger there all day.
