MBS Rise Buffet Lunch – Good Quality & Variety

Rise Restaurant in Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is an all day dining restaurant with an international buffet spread. It is large and offers a lavish spread. MBS Rise Buffet Lunch is priced at S$56++ on weekdays and $62++ on weekends but Citibank Cardmembers enjoy 20% off the total bill (till 30 September 2018) and NTUC Members enjoy 15% off the total bill (till 31 March 2019).

Located on the busy hotel lobby level of Marina Bay Sands Tower 1, Rise Restaurant has a large stretched out dining space. The restaurant undertook major renovations and reopened in July 2017 with a refreshed attractive look. The 400-seat restaurant’s contemporary interior is dotted with plants, big and small, and there is an outdoor Herb Garden.

MBS Rise Buffet

MBS Rise has eight open-concept kitchens and features varied cuisines of the world as well as local Singapore delights. The buffet spread is extensive – offering cold starters, hot starters, salads, soups, mains and desserts.

Beverages

MBS Rise Soda Station

There is an interesting soda station which allows diners to create their own sodas using fresh fruits, colourful syrups and other condiments. The young children will be especially excited by the soda station but older folks will be equally eager to give it a try.

There is also a fresh juice bar and there are coffee stations dotting the restaurant, where diners can get machine made coffee and TWG teas.

The Starters

The starters of the MBS Rise Buffet are varied – from exotic ham to the usual fresh seafood station.

One of the favourite stations of Singaporean buffet enthusiasts, the sushi and sashimi station, is well stocked and constantly replenished.

There is a bread stand with a wide variety of bread. Those we tried, like the wholemeal cranberry bread, were very good. The Rise lunch buffet does not offer a lot of choices when it comes to salad and soup. We guess it is a case of opting for quality over quantity. The Hot & Sour Soup is worth a try.

The Mains

The choice of main items at the lunch buffet of Rise Restaurant is extensive. There are roast beefs, pastas, dim sum, tandoori selection, mala dishes and a whole range of Singapore food. The Signature Barramundi Baked in Salt Crust is popular.

The roast meats platter and chilli crab are among the crowd’s favourites.

Indian Rojak is a rather usual offering in buffets. A key component of Indian rojak is the sauce and the Rise version is delicious.

The Desserts

The desserts station at MBS Rise buffet may not stand out in the big space with so many other visual distractions. However, the dessert spread is varied and interesting.

In addition to the usual cakes and tarts, there is a good spread of nyonya kuehs. There is an impressive chocolate fondue fountain. The standout items for us are the crepe suzette and bread pudding.

The large number of tables in Rise Restaurant and the popularity of the MBS Rise Buffet mean that the restaurant can feel very busy and there is no element of exclusivity or sense of intimacy. It is not a place you want to go to for some peace and quiet. However, it is easy to understand why the all you can eat buffet at Rise Restaurant is so popular. The buffet spread is extensive and the quality of the food is generally good. The dining space is nifty and the price is reasonable, especially if you get the credit card or NTUC discount. With food from all over the world and fellow diners from all corners of the Earth, dining at Rise Restaurant in Marina Bay Sands will excite your senses in more ways than one.
