Imperial Treasure Steamboat Takeaway Bento Set

Our Imperial Treasure Steamboat Takeaway bentos from the 111 Somerset Building were two of three cooked food combinations available. They are ‘dry’ items, nothing to do with steamboat but good for those who are very hungry.

Imperial Treasure Steamboat is one of the many restaurant concepts in the Imperial Treasure restaurant group in Singapore. There are two other Imperial Treasure Steamboat locations at Ion Orchard and Great World. The outlet at 111 Somerset is on the second level. It is quite a spacious place. Dining-in is available but we were there just for the bento takeaway.

Here are pictures of the bento set menu and the $68++ special steamboat lunch menu for 2 pax which I thought looks reasonable and we may try in future. We picked one each of the Bento A and B ($14.80+ and $16.80+) respectively.

Imperial Treasure Steamboat takeaway bento sets were packed in high quality boxes that were tightly secured. The food survived the journey home very well. The first thing we noticed was the weight of the boxes. There was a choice of fried rice or horfun for either one. We tried one of each. You can see that the portions of the rice and hor fun were big.

Bento Set A (picture below) contained braised beancurd, deep-fried wonton and fried rice. The fragrance of the fried rice was noticeable before opening the box. The rice was the star attraction for us. It was substantial and tasted very good. The braised beancurd was also enjoyable but the deep-fried wonton was not deep-fried enough.

The story was similar for Bento B (picture below) for which we selected the wok-fried hor fun with bean sprouts and preserved radish. The carbo item was the best. The accompanying braised egg plant and pan-fried fish also tasted nice but the latter had more bones than we expected.

Overall, we would certainly order Imperial Treasure Steamboat Takeaway Bento Sets again if we are in the Somerset / Orchard area. The only thing we would do differently is to avoid the one with the fish.
