6oz Espresso Bar is an award winning cafe that has gained a loyal following in the Central Business District (CBD). The home grown artisanal coffee chain has a new outlet in Change Alley Mall (formerly Chevron House).
While still studying in university, Shane Lee and Diana Chew set up 6oz Espresso Bar in the Tokio Marine Centre on McCallum Street back in 2010. Serving specialty coffee to clientele of the corporate world, 6oz Espresso Bar soon established outlets in Fuji Xerox Towers, OUE Downtown Gallery, and CapitaGreen. The latest outlet in the CBD is at the Change Alley Mall, which opened in October 2020.
More than half of the new Change Alley Mall are restaurants and cafes. 6oz Espresso Bar @ Change Alley is tucked in between the new-to-market Indonesian coffee brand Tanamera Coffee and the familiar Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.
6oz Espresso Bar @ Change Alley is compact and the interior decor is simple but stylish. There are a few tables in front the the counter and preparation area for the food and beverages. There are a few more tables just outside the cafe.
Coffee using only 100% Arabica beans is the main offering of 6oz Espresso Bar. However, tea, chocolate, juices, kombucha and other beverages are also available. Those looking for something to bite can find fresh pastries and bakes, sandwiches and snacks there.
We visited the new 6oz Espresso Bar @ Change Alley Mall for a coffee break. We had a Ham & Cheese Sandwich ($9), Cafe Mocha ($6.90) and Cafe Latte ($5.90). Order and payment were made at the counter. The food and beverages were served to the table. The staff were friendly and helpful – good service with a smile.
The coffee was very good – well balanced and smooth. The sandwich looked simple but was surprisingly enjoyable. The tomatoes were juicy and the ham was tasty. The grilled cheese added a creamy texture and rich flavour to the mix. It had the appearance of a homemade sandwich but the dish tasted like something we would find in an all day dining restaurant of a five star hotel.
6oz Espresso Bar is a nice spot in the CBD for good artisanal coffee. It is also a nice place for breakfast, tea break or a simple meal. They also do delivery.
