Weekend Brunch @ Ninethirty

We were at Ninethirty in Katong for brunch on a recent weekend. We ordered the Ninethirty Scramble ($16) and the Breakfast Crepe ($18). A cup of long black was $5.

Both the dishes were attractively plated. Garnishes were used for their vibrant colours and accents as much as to add to the textures and flavours.

Open Face Egg Sandwich

Ninethirty Scramble was a simple dish of open face sandwich but looked so much better than something we would make at home. The rye bread had a nice earthy flavour and the scrambled egg was soft and creamy. The crispy bacon strips, cherry tomatoes and pomegranate added contrasting textures to the mix. It was a rather straightforward brunch food but was as satisfying as it could get.

Ham & Egg Crepe

The Breakfast Crepe looked like a close relative of the Ninethirty Scarmbled with creamy scrambled egg, crispy bacon strips and pomegranate included in the ingredients. Instead of rye bread, soft cheese crepe was used as the base. Honey baked ham added more meat to the dish. The thin asparagus stalks provided fibrous texture and made us feel like we were eating something healthy. Everything combined well for an enjoyable ham & egg crepe dish.

Good place for brunch in Katong

There are many places for brunch in the East Coast-Katong area (see TOP Brunch Places in Katong & East Coast) and Ninethirty is one of our favourites. It has a nice space that does not feel congested. The service is friendly. Prices, though not low, are reasonable. The coffee is not bad and the food looks good and meets expectations in terms of taste; and there is always the Awfully Chocolate cake to please the palate. Whether you are alone or with friends or family, Ninethirty by Awfully Chocolate is a good place to have weekend brunch in Katong.
