Cafe Aux Bacchanales Singapore opened earlier this month at Plaza Singapura. This Japanese styled French cafe first started in the year 1995 at Harajuku, Tokyo. They now have several outlets in Japan. The new Singapore store is their first overseas outlet outside Japan.
According to their Facebook page, “... Aux Bacchanales is a Café and Bistro combined into one. It serves as a rendezvous for coffee and brunch during the day, and turns into a lively hangout for wine and dine at night…” We have always been fans of the Japanese versions of French restaurants. Some of the good examples we have tried in Tokyo include Le Bourguignon Tokyo, L’Effervescence and Le Sputnik. We therefore looked forward to our lunch at the new Cafe Aux Bacchanales Singapore at Plaza Singapura.
Cafe Aux Bacchanales Singapore Menu
Here are pictures of some pages of the Cafe Aux Bacchanales Singapore menu including the list of Set Lunch Specials. It does not seem to be a “set lunch” in the traditional sense, just a selection of items some of which were at reduced prices during lunch. Which is a good thing as it does not require us to order items like soup or salad that we do not really need.
Our Lunch
We decided to have the plain omelette plate with gratined potato ($13.80) and sirloin steak (150g) with red wine sauce and fries ($19.80). Both the omelette and sirloin steak were presented very simply. The omelette was nicely made, moderately fluffy. The steak was cooked medium as requested and the sauce was also good. They were both nice dishes that we would be happy to eat again. But I did feel a tinge of disappointment as we had rather high expectations of the new Café Aux Bacchanales Singapore.
