TWG Tea at Swissotel The Stamford is a beautifully decorated tea salon and boutique in Raffles City. We would count having tea at the TWG Tea Salon as one of the top affordable luxurious treats for the ordinary patrons.
TWG Raffles City
TWG Tea at Swissotel The Stamford is located on level 1 of Raffles City, near the escalators leading up to the Convention Centre. Because of the current Safe Management Measures (SMM), TWG Raffles City may be hidden from sight. When it comes into view, the colourful tea cans display will be the first thing that catches the eyes. The space looks like a swanky retail boutique from the outside.
The dining area is in an inner section partially hidden by the shelves. It has a posh colonial feel, with rattan furniture and crisp white tablecloths.
TWG Raffles Menu
We had visited TWG Tea Salon Takashimaya and written about their long list of teas and rather extensive food menu.
It seems that they are consistent over time and space. The TWG Takashimaya Menu in 2019 and the TWG Raffles Menu in 2021 would appear to be substantially the same. The prices have also remained unchanged.
Afternoon Tea or Dinner
It was around 5 pm – time for tea for some but time for early dinner for others. We ordered the Salmon Burgundy ($30) for the one belonging to the latter category and the Vanilla Berry Pancakes with Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream ($18) for the other.
The Salmon Burgundy was a rather substantial dish. It was served with warm bread and deluxe butter on the side.
Salmon is a fairly dependable fish with predictable taste. Prepared with Burgundy red wine sauce and horseradish cream, and accompanied by sautéed potatoes infused with Lu An Gua Pian, caramlised pearl onions, smoked duck lardons and mushrooms, the TWG fish dish had interesting rich flavours. It was a delectable and satisfying one dish meal.
The Vanilla Berry Pancakes looked pretty. The pancakes were nice and fluffy and very relishable with Chantilly Cream and Vanilla Bourbon Ice Cream. The combination of textures and flavours was pleasing. It was a comforting dish that could be enjoyed any time of the day.
No meal at TWG could be complete without their luxurious teas. We are not tea connoisseurs but what we had were obviously fine teas and very nice.
The Good Life
TWG Tea at Swissotel The Stamford, Raffles City is a very pleasant oasis away from the busy mall. It is a splendid salon with good service, elegant tableware and delectable food. Sitting there sipping fine tea, makes us, ordinary patrons, feel like we are living the good life.
