Wakanui Grill Singapore Lunch to try the NZ Spring Lamb

Wakanui Grill Singapore is a restaurant famous for their New Zealand steak and lamb dishes. A friend said that their NZ spring lamb chops were among the best in Singapore. We stopped by Marina Bay One to find out.

WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore restaurant is located in the West Tower of Marina One. Their meat dishes features Ocean Beef and WAKANUI Spring Lamb from the Canterbury region in the South Island of New Zealand. At lunch time there is a prix fixe or set lunch menu. Here are pictures of the set price menu as well as the lunch menu. We ordered a mix of set lunch and a la carte items from the menus.

WAKANUI Grill Set Lunch

The WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore set lunch starts off with a Chef’s Appetiser (picture above) and a mushroom soup (picture below). Both were enjoyable items. The most memorable part of the starters was the very fragrant mushroom used in the chef’s appetiser.

The price of the WAKANUI Grill Dining set lunch varies depending on the type of main course selected. We chose the premium steak sandwich ($55 picture above) and the Wakanui Premium Burger ($52, picture below). The taste of both items were very good. These are pricey sandwich and burgers for lunch. But it has to be said that beef in both the sandwich and the burger were substantial and had a rich beefy taste.

These were the two desserts that were served at the end of the set lunch. They were not as good as the preceding dishes.

New Zealand Spring Lamb Rack

The main reason we were at Wakanui was to satisfy our curiosity about the Wakanui New Zealand lamb. The half rack costs $58 a la carte or $69 as part of a set meal. The size of the lamb half rack was small with ribs that look thin and delicate. There was consensus that the lamb was indeed good – the meat was juicy and tender. But there was a difference in opinion as to whether it is one of the best in Singapore. The Carnivore felt that the lamb was too mild and did not have the distinctive lamb taste. On the other hand, the Usually-Non-Lamb eater was happy not to have any gamey taste in the lamb.

WAKANUI Grill Dining Singapore at Marina One is directly accessible by lift from the basement carpark. Look out for the West Tower lift lobby.
