Taste Orchard - What to Eat at the Former OG Orchard Road

We take a quick look at the new Taste Orchard which took over floors that were previously occupied by OG Orchard department store. According to a Jan 2024 Straits Times article, OG Orchard department store shut in October 2022, and its more than 155,000 sq ft of space was leased out to a master tenant Hao Corp, best known for its chain of Hao Mart supermarkets.

Eccellente Supermarket and New Food Centre at Orchard Point

Collectively, the five floors of Orchard Plaza that used to be OG Orchard are now known as Taste Orchard. It is said to offer a mix of groceries, restaurants and f & b options. Orchard Plaza, by the way, is the building next to Centrepoint Orchard.

Here is the mall directory of Taste Orchard. Currently most of the space is occupied by the Eccellente supermarket. with living and home products in the basement and food and drinks in parts of levels 1 and 2. Levels 3 and 4 seem quiet with more f & b “coming soon”.

At the time of our visit, only the ground floor or level 1 of Taste Orchard was somewhat busy. That is because quite a few restaurants and food outlets have opened on level 1.

Taste Orchard Level One

The fresh food department of Excellent supermarket takes up a big portion of level one.

BHC Chicken is a Korean restaurant on level 1. It specialises in Korean style fried chicken.

Also on level one is Yolé which serves zero sugar ice cream and frozen yogurt.

OBBA Jjajang Express @ Orchard has various types of Korean rice and noodle dishes on its menu.

YUGO Marshmallow Biscuit is said to be the first in Singapore to sell freshly onsite handmade marshmallow biscuits.

Chirashi King Kong is the place to get affordable Japanese rice bowls.

The most visible food outlet at Taste Orchard is Killiney coffee shop.

A large wine bar, Wine Mansion, awaits those who prefer alcoholic beverages.

Freshly Cooked Seafood and Steaks at FYI

Situated within the Eccellente fresh food area is a counter known as FYI (Famous, Yummy, Irresistible). Here diners can have their fresh seafood and meats prepared for an add-on fee of $12. “you point, we cook” is the slogan.

For us, this is the most interesting section of the new Taste Orchard. It is similar to what is offered at Culina Bistro in Dempsey, a service charge is payable for the preparation of fresh food selection from the adjacent Culina Market.
