Katong, a neighbourhood already bursting with delicious food options, gets a new Italian restaurant with the arrival of Griglia Open Fire Italian Kitchen. Following the success of their first restaurant on Craig Road, Griglia is bringing their unique take on Italian food to the East side.

The new Griglia Katong boasts a stylish yet intimate setting with just over 30 seats. Guests are greeted by a welcoming bar and a large open kitchen. The highlight of the kitchen is a custom-made iron cast charcoal grill.
The focus of the new restaurant in Katong is on “grigliata,” a traditional Italian social gathering around a charcoal grill. Executive Chef Andrea De Paolo serves a new menu with favourites from the Craig Road restaurant as well as new additions, all of which are presented sharing-style.
Diners can explore the myriad of regions and cuisines across Italy. Start with a selection of six finger-food snacks, with the spotlight on Cantabrian Anchovies, native to the Cantabrian Sea’s Bay of Biscay. For mains, there are classics like pappardelle with bone marrow, or lighter options like heirloom tomato carpaccio. Meat lovers can indulge in aged parma ham with smoked pears or an eco-conscious beef tartare.
Seafood fans can go for the “Fusilli Monograno Felicetti,” where plump crab is combined with spicy ‘Nduja sausage for a smoky and flavourful dish. The grill offers more substantial options too, with steaks, whole fish and a 200-day grain-fed Angus beef rib perfect for sharing.
Don’t forget dessert. End your meal with a classic Sicilian cannoli or a delightful upside-down apple cake, baked with a recipe passed down from Chef Andrea’s family.
Weekend Grigliata Lunch
For a taste of Italy under the midday sun, Griglia Katong offers a special “Weekend Grigliata” on weekends. This lunchtime feast includes three appetisers, two types of free-flow pasta, two mains and a dessert at $68++ per person.
