DaXi 大喜, a recent addition to Singapore’s restaurant scene, is quickly making its mark. Specialising in Taiwanese-style dumplings, the casual restaurant chain has expanded rapidly, with outlets in popular malls like Ang Mo Kio Hub, Guoco Midtown, Plaza Singapura and VivoCity.
DaXi at Tanjong Pagar
Launched in late 2021, DaXi was established as the Asian fusion restaurant concept by Minor Food Singapore. The group is behind familiar names like Thai Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, Sanook Kitchen, GyoGyo and Poulet.
The décor of DaXi at Guoco Tower follows the current trend in Singapore’s casual dining scene. The restaurant has a sleek and simple design, with attractive touches here and there. A unique feature is the placement of stone sculptures, doubling as dividers, on a large oval table in the middle of the restaurant.
Seating caters to both small groups and individual diners, with a mix of communal tables and options for couples or solo diners.
DaXi’s Menu
DaXi’s menu offers a mix of Taiwanese-style dishes and Asian fusion creations. Lu Rou Fan (Braised Pork Rice) and Pork Floss Egg Pancake as well as Fish Tempura and Popcorn Chicken are on the menu.
DaXi’s signature dish is their handmade dumplings. They come with three different fillings: classic Original Pork, Salted Egg Pork, or a vegetarian option with Japanese Mushroom. They can be prepared in three distinct: immersed in a chicken broth, simply boiled or pan-fried for a crispy exterior.

Dumplings Noodles & Rice at DaXi
We recently tried a selection of DaXi’s offerings at the Guoco Tower outlet – the Original Pork Dumplings ($10.80 for 5 pieces) boiled in Chicken Superior Broth, DaXi Stir-fried Noodle ($9.80) and Taiwanese Lu Rou Fan ($5.80).
The dumplings were served piping hot. They impressed with their delicate and smooth skin. The filling was juicy and flavourful. The broth was somewhat ordinary.
The DaXi Stir-fried Noodle ($9.80) was a noodle dish with simple basic ingredients. It was surprisingly delectable. Comfort food that was enjoyable.
DaXi delivered a good rendition of Lu Rou Fan, the classic Taiwanese braised pork rice dish. While the braised pork belly might be a touch fatty for some, those who enjoy a richer experience would find rice bowl satisfying.
Good Option for Casual Dining
大喜 can be translated literally as “big happiness” and convey the sense of overjoy or being extremely happy. DaXi 大喜 the restaurant offers a relaxed and modern ambience for diners seeking a taste of Taiwanese cuisine. The menu has a good variety of dishes, with prices that are affordable. For fans of Taiwanese staples and anyone looking for a simple satisfying meal in pleasant surroundings, DaXi can certainly bring at least some small happiness.
