Udon Shin Takashimaya is the first international outlet of famous udon restaurant Udon Shin from Tokyo. More than a week has passed since its opening in early November 2025 and the queue to get in is still long.

New Udon Shop at Takashimaya Singapore
The new outlet is located on basement 2 of the Orchard Road shopping mall. We had hoped the expected high enthusiasm would taper off soon after opening. The Udon Shin Singapore outlet is said to be many times the size of its small Tokyo outlet. But it seems to be not big enough. These are pictures of the queue situation at dinner time on a weekday. Two orderly lines were formed, stretching out from both sides of the entrance.

According to the Shin website, their noodles are never cut or boiled in advance. Instead, each portion is rolled, cut, and cooked only after your order is placed, ensuring the ideal texture and freshness that defines the ultimate udon. I guess this means that cooking time will be longer than what we are used to at regular ramen restaurants.

The queue was too long for us this time. We hope to be back soon, most likely at a more off-peak timing. Udon Shin Takashimaya restaurant is currently operating on a walk-in basis only and does not take reservations.
