Soufflé Duxton Hill is a new French restaurant that specialises in soufflés. With six savoury soufflés and eight types of sweet soufflés on the menu, anyone can satisfy his craving for the fluffy French baked egg dish here. Souffle is run by Delicae Hospitality Management Group (“DHM Group”) which used to operate the Sabio Tapas Bar from the same premises. We had brunch there recently and tried seven types of soufflé. I probably ate more souffle in one day than I did in the past ten years.
Yellow Pot Restaurant at Six Senses Duxton Hotel is a new modern Chinese restaurant where the interiors excite diners as much as the food. At a time when the look and feel of many of the new cafes and restaurants in Singapore are familiar or quite indistinguishable, like James Bond’s tuxedos, Yellow Pot is like a head-turning Bond girl – sassy, mysterious and glamorous. The food at the restaurant should also meet the approval of the urbane 007 agent.
Ards Restaurant Singapore is a new restaurant at Duxton Hill, Tanjong Pagar. It is helmed by two young chefs who have worked at some big name restaurants. The letters “a r d s” stand for Asia, roots, distinct and singular. Chefs Ace Tan and David Lee seek to create a distinctive fine dining restaurant that reflects their Asian roots. According to their website, “Our mission is to leave you thinking, “You have not been to Asia if you have not been to Ards”. A bold mission statement. I am not sure they succeeded in leaving us with that feeling after our lunch at Ards Restaurant Singapore. What they did succeed was to give us a great lunch experience and left us thinking that this could be the best new restaurant 2017 in Singapore that we have tried.
Spanish restaurants and tapas are getting increasingly popular in Singapore these days. One of the early movers in this direction was Sabio Tapas Bar at Duxton Hill which opened some years ago. According to their website, it is run by Déliciae Hospitality Management (DHM) whose portfolio also includes L’Entrecôte and &MADE Burger Bistro.
Rhubarb Le Restaurant is a French restaurant situated in the dining oasis at Duxton Hill. The several rows of shophouses there are choc-a-bloc with restaurants and food places. Finding a restaurant here is easy, it is the parking lots that are elusive. Rhubarb Singapore is located right next to the Flor Patisserie and just across the open-air carpark. They received a one Michelin Star in the 2016 Singapore Michelin Guide.
