Hoodadak Singapore - a new Korean Restaurant in Fusionopolis (Opened March 2016)

Hoodadak Singapore is a new Korean Restaurant that recently opened (March 2016) in Fusionopolis in One North, Buona Vista. With its raw, industrial look, the restaurant does not give any indication that it was a Korean restaurant. We asked the kind Korean lady who was manning the newly opened restaurant what “Hoodadak” meant and we believe it means a running chicken or the sound of a chicken running. Which explains the chicken motifs found in various places in the restaurant.

Hoodadak Singapore is quite a large, spacious restaurant. There is a big open space in front of the service area and the high ceiling makes this an airy and uncongested space. The decor is simple and industrial. We were there on a weekend and it was very quiet and peaceful.

Here are pictures of the lunch sets and some pages from the regular menu. We decided on a Bulgogi Bibimbap ($11) and a seafood pancake ($16).

The Bulgogi Bibimbap was served first. The presentation was simple but quite beautiful. The colourful food in black crockery on a black tray formed a nice picture with the wooden table top. There was a generous portion of beef on the rice and glass noodles. They worked well with the sauce and together. If we have to nit pick, we would say that the there was too much sauce which resulted in the rice at the bottom being soaked and therefore overly sweet. But otherwise, it was a good tasting Bulgogi Bibimbap.

The seafood pancake was served next. We are not very familiar with Korean cuisine, but we can say that these are the best Korean pancakes we have eaten. Each slice of the pancake was saturated with seafood (mostly squid we think) and a lot of chives. It tasted like a seafood and chives omelette. A small amount of chilli was included in the mix to give it a slight spicy kick. Very delicious. The sauce provided had a sweet and sour taste. We found that just adding a small amount of the sauce was enough to enhance the flavour.
