The Great Singapore Sale is supposed to be 66 days to please all shopaholics. Cafes and restaurants are also offering sweet deals to savour. Collin’s Restaurant and Collin’s Grille.Bento have a Great Singapore Sale Special but it was the Amazing Lunch Deal which really caught our attention.
Founded by Chef Collin Ho, Collin’s is a restaurant chain that is making its presence felt. The casual restaurant serving affordable Western fare now has 15 Collin’s Grille.Bento outlets in the heartlands and four Collin’s Restaurants in the city, including one at Marina Square. Their website says that “Our aim is to bring restaurant-quality food to the masses at affordable prices”. We think they have done remarkably well in that regard.
Collin’s Restaurant Marina Square
Collin’s Restaurant is located on the road level of Marina Square facing Pan Pacific Hotel. From inside the mall, it looked like there is a restaurant and a separate cafe and ice parlour. They are in fact connected.
The dining space is pleasant with a casual atmosphere. There is a variety of seating options. Even though they have nice booth seats, Collin’s may not be ideal for the romantic dinner on a first date – a bit too casual and lively. However, it is great for a good quick meal before the movie and for family and group outings.
Collin’s Amazing Deals
Collin’s prices are very reasonable to begin with. On top of that they run promotions, which can mean really great deals. Currently, they have a Great Singapore Sale Promotion where you can get a meal with Mishima Reserve Wagyu Beef for only $32.90. There are also great lunch deals and an “Atas Promotion” at $12.90 for a main course and a soup.
Collin’s Menu
Collin’s Menu is extensive and can be viewed on their website. At Collin’s Marina Square, they even have a wine list. There is also a kid’s menu. Here are a few pictures of random pages from the menu at Collin’s.
Lunch @ Collin’s
Currently, there is an Amazing Lunch Deal where you order any main course and you get a choice of free side dish and either a drink or a dessert. We ordered the Roasted Half Chicken ($12.90) and the Collin’s Mixed Grill ($15.90).
One of the free side dishes was the tempura squid tentacles. It was quite a substantial portion and tasty. We also had their mushroom soup, which was not bad.
The Roasted Chicken was nicely presented on a huge square plate. The chicken was tender and flavourful. It was good value on its own, even without the free side dish and drink/dessert. We would order this again.
The Collin’s Mixed Grill was also a big portion and came with mashed potatoes and their signature cob of corn. The dish was ordinary. We thought it was a dish to satisfy hunger rather than to please the palate. It would probably be a suitable dish for teenagers with voracious appetite.
We opted for the Baked Caramel Banana and the Passion Fruit Earl Grey Tea for our free dessert and free drink. They were both nicely presented and very enjoyable.
The prices at Collin’s Restaurant are very affordable. At that price point, the restaurant setting and the quality of the food would surely exceed what an ordinary patron could reasonably expect. With their special deals (and it would seem that they have a number of promotions going on at one time or another), Collin’s must be one of the best affordable dining options in Singapore.
