There is almost always a queue outside a Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 restaurant in Singapore. While patrons are no longer allowed to dine at restaurants with the Circuit Breaker measures in place in Singapore, there are still queues outside Din Tai Fung restaurants. We wondered why. Din Tai Fung Daily Takeaway Deals

鼎泰豐 Din Tai Fung had been offering daily takeaway deals which include discounts on their signature dishes. The promotion was so popular that the queues outside their restaurants raised safe distancing concerns.

The Daily Deals will no longer be available to walk-in customers. The Din Tai Fung takeaway deals will now be applicable exclusively for ‘Call & Collect’. You have to

1. Call the restaurant in advance;
2. Receive the collection time from the restaurant staff; and
3. Collect your meal at the allocated time.

The deal is restricted to one redemption per bill.

Din Tai Fung Takeaway on Monday

We tried the Din Tai Fung Takeaway on Monday. We ordered fried rice ($8) and was entitled to buy Noodle with Minced Pork in Bean Sauce (or Zha Jiang Mian 炸酱面) for $4 plus GST.

The noodles came in a nice red paper box. The minced meat in bean sauce was in a separate small plastic container.

The portion size was reasonably substantial – more than enough for a person with an average appetite. The noodles were smooth and not sticky. They had a nice texture. The meat sauce had a good mix of flavours which we thought combined rather well. The Noodle with Minced Pork in Bean Sauce of Din Tai Fung looked simple but was really quite an enjoyable dish.

The Din Tai Fung fried rice with egg is as basic as it gets. It is a tad expensive and may be of questionable nutritional value as a one dish meal. But it serves its purpose of providing carbohydrates and a feeling of contentment and well being. It is comfort food and you can’t really go wrong with it.

DTF Takeaway & Delivery

鼎泰豐 Din Tai Fung has many outlets all over Singapore. However, not every one of its restaurants is open during the Circuit Breaker period. For example, the popular branch in Paragon is temporarily closed. So do check if a particular outlet is open for takeaway or not. Delivery to your office or home is also possible.
