Flagwhite Cafe – Australian Inspired Food at Beauty World

FlagWhite Cafe is a 5 minute walk from Beauty World MRT Station. It is a popular place frequented by residents and working folks in the area who go there for Australian inspired comfort food and a cup of locally-roasted coffee.

FlagWhite – “A Happy Place for All”

​That is the tagline we find on the “About Us” page of the Flagwhite website, which also states that : “We’ll continue to try our hardest to provide a space for fuss-free dining, all day breakfast, coffee, beers and everything good in life”. This sounds like the kind of place we would like to eat at. And so we headed to Jalan Jurong Kechil for lunch.

Friendly Cafe at Beauty World MRT Station

The Happy Place for All does not appear to be any different from a typical cafe in Singapore. Simple furniture with bare concrete floor and industrial decor vibes. But we could detect something different. The atmosphere was buzzy but not too loud. All the tables were taken, thank goodness we had a reservation. The staff members move with a degree of briskness and energy which seem to indicate enthusiasm in their work. It was a good impression overall. There are a few precious parking lots (free) in front of the shops – and one became available just when we arrived. Life was good indeed.

Coffee, Beer and Happy Hour

Some of the nice things in life were on display on the service counter. Big coffee machine and grinders. A few of the nicest beers on tap – Guiness, Little Creatures and Hoegarden. According to their website, happy hour happens from 5PM – 8PM daily when you the beers are priced at $10 before GST (U.P. $12).

Here are pictures of the Flagwhite Cafe menu. They have an all-day breakfast option. Pick and choose your own items. We picked a mix of sautéed mushrooms ($4), Scrambled eggs ($4), Sourdough bread ($4). And also a Flagwhite Beef Burger ($18).

All Day Breakfast

We can understand why this all-day breakfast cafe is so popular. The customisation option is such a good idea. We only pay for the items we want. Most of the time we do not need the oily bacon and sausages that come with such a breakfast dish. The cooked items were also well prepared. The eggs in particular was done perfectly. Cooked enough but remaining wobbly – the state in between liquid and solid.

Australian cafes tend to serve good coffees and this was the case here. Our coffees ($5 each) was enjoyable.

Flagwhite Beef Burger

The beef burger was not very big but was packed with the good stuff – Angus beef patty, fried egg, bacon and onion crisps. Together with ties, not bad for a $18 burger.

There were other interesting food such as waffles and ice-cream that we did not try. This will have to wait till a next visit.
