The new Jelita Mall has opened after months of renovations. Previously known as Jelita Shopping Centre, many changes have been made, the most exciting of which is the new food court upstairs named Jelita Gourmet. Who would have thought that we can one day find chye png, Teochew fishball noodles and laksa in Jelita. Don’t worry, Cold Storage supermarket is still on the ground floor.

Jelita Shopping Centre is now the new Jelita Mall
The small building along Holland Road had been popular with local residents because of Cold Storage supermarket, Times Bookshop and other shops upstairs and the one hour free parking. Cold Storage and a few old shops have remained but many things have changed. It appears from the signs being put up that the official opening will happen soon. “Exclusive deals” will be available during Opening Week from 15 to 23 March 2025.

In a Nov 20, 2023 Business Times article, it was reported that DFI Retail Group (DFI) had sold Jelita Shopping Centre for S$91.68 million to a Singapore property investor. The transaction entails a leaseback of the ground level to enable DFI’s Cold Storage to continue supermarket operations. Over the course of 2024, major renovations have taken place in the building while CS continued business as usual.

From what we, casual visitors, to the mall can observe, the changes are mainly to the second level and the common areas such as the car park and building infrastructure. The ground floor with Cold Storage remains largely unchanged.
Jelita Gourmet New Food Court at Jelita Mall

The most exciting new thing at Jelita Mall is the new food court, Jelita Gourmet. In the past, the escalator up from Cold Storage ends in front of DeliFrance and Guardian Pharmacy. DeliFrance is no longer there and Guardian has moved to another part of the building. A bright and glitzy food court now welcomes visitors to level 2.

The new Jelita food court looks larger than we expected. How did they fit all this within such a small building? Most of the stalls have started operations but a few are still in their preparatory stage.

Jelita Gourmet New Food Court
Here are the stalls that were seen at the time of our visit.
Sweet Potato Porridge Mixed Vegetable Rice
The first stall we noticed on arrival was the chye png stall. The bright signboard and vast spread of dishes caught our attention straightaway.

Chindamani Indian Restaurant
Roti prata, briyani (fish, chicken and mutton) and other dishes are available at Chindamani Jelita Gourmet.

Common Grill by Collin’s at Jelita Mall Food Court
A food court should also have a Western food stall. This function is served by Common Grill by Collin’s. Air-flown ribeye steaks for $19.90 and Angus beef cheese burgers for $15.90 anyone? A weekday “mega lunch” deal is currently offered at $9.90.

Ipoh Tuck Kee Restaurant
Egg gravy noodles and Hokkien fried ee mee are available at Ipoh Tuck Kee stall.

Tong Sheng Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle and Tanjong Rhu Wanton Noodle

These noodle stalls are next to each other. Chicken feet noodles and dumplings caught our attention.

Ah Ma Chi Mian阿嬤吃麵
There are several Ah Ma Chi Mian outlets in Singapore. You can find different types of noodles here including Teochew fishball noodles and laksa.

Ming Xuan Roasted Delights
Roast duck, soya sauce chicken, char siew dishes. Served with rice or noodles.

Lao Wang Chicken Rice
Chicken rice is available with either kampong chicken or regular chicken.

Little Scoops
Gelato, waffles and coffee are available at this stall.

Of course there is the drinks stall at the new Jelita Mall Food Court. With this new mall, there is another local food centre option for residents in the area in addition to the nearby Ghim Moh market.

Other Shops at the New Jelita Mall

In addition to Cold Storage on the ground floor and the new food court on level two, there are several other shops on level 2 as well. Guardian Pharmacy, Mytoyshop, Mister Minit , WOW Let’s Party and Kcuts are still at Jelita.

The Beacon Medical Clinic and Ko Djeng Dental are also on level 2 of Jelita Mall.

Craftsmen Coffee Jelita Mall
Starbucks used to be at this mall. It seems that Craftsmen Coffee will be a new kid on the block. The space they are taking is under renovation.

Free Parking at Jelita Car Park?
In the past, there was an automatic first hour free parking for everyone at Jelita Shopping Centre. This situation seems to have changed. Shoppers at Cold Storage spending $20 and above can get a complimentary parking ticket at the cashier. We don’t know whether this is obtainable from the other shops.
