Cloud Cafe or CL9UD Cafe at Bukit Merah Enterprise Centre on Jalan Kilang has a pleasant space and offers a diverse menu. Besides the expected burgers and pastas, it also serves Asian-inspired dishes, including Chinese guo tie, Thai lemongrass chicken wings, and Singapore laksa.

CL9UD Cafe at Bukit Merah Enterprise Centre
The Bukit Merah Enterprise Centre, previously known as Sime Darby Enterprise Centre, is an eight-storey commercial building for light industrial (B1) use. The front of the building, which faces Jalan Bukit Merah, has its ground floor (Level 1) at street level. However, due to the natural slope of the land, the rear of the building, on the Jalan Kilang side, is on higher ground. This means that Level 2 at the back of the building is actually at same level as Jalan Kilang. You will CL9UD Cafe on Level 2.

The cafe has large black doors, typical of light industrial buildings. Behind them is a bar and dining area with a modern interior design. The walls are adorned with colourful artworks and ornamental decorative pieces.
Some cafes have interiors that might be described as “IKEA-inspired”. CL9UD Cafe’s decor struck us as more “Taobao-inspired”. There is a mix of statement art pieces, marble surfaces, and touches of opulence to try to create an upscale atmosphere; but then someone decided to add plastic flowers to the mix.

The cafe is spacious. Large glass panels at both the front and rear allow plenty of natural light to come in. The tables are well spaced, providing a comfortable distance between diners.

Menu of CL9UD Cafe
The menu of CL9UD Cafe has different sections: Rice, Noodles, Pastas, Burgers, Seafood and Sides. The Rice section features items that illustrate the diverse cuisines the chefs can prepare. There are Japanese-inspired Tori Chicken Rice Bowl, local Curry Chicken Rice and Western-style Mushroom Risotto.

Lunch at CL9UD Cafe
We were in the Bukit Merah or Redhill neighbourhood on a Saturday. Looking for a quick lunch in a pleasant setting, CL9UD Cafe turned out to be just what we needed. It was not crowded at the time of our visit, and our food arrived without much of a wait.

We ordered the Tori Chicken Rice Bowl ($10.90) and the Yakiniku Rice Bowl ($15.90). They were essentially the same dish, topped with chicken and beef respectively. Both came with broccoli, mushrooms and egg.

The Tori Bowl was fluffy white rice topped with a generous portion of sliced Tori (grilled chicken) coated in a light, savoury glaze. There was a liberal sprinkle of sesame seeds. Broccoli, mushrooms and egg added colour and contrasting textures to the bowl. In the Yakiniku bowl, the chicken was replaced with a generous serving of tender grilled beef.
Both rice bowls were enjoyable and satisfying. We would gladly order them again.

We had a Long Black ($5.50) with our lunch. It was a good cup of barista brewed coffee.

Diverse menu, reasonable prices & comfortable space
Overall, CL9UD Cafe is a great option in the Bukit Merah or Redhill neighbourhood for those seeking a diverse menu, reasonable prices and a pleasant, comfortable setting.
