There are not many restaurants serving Mexican Food in Singapore. Which is why we were happy to see Guzman Y Gomez set up an outlet in Star Vista, Buona Vista. According to their website, Guzman Y Gomez was founded in 2006 and “was named to honour old friends and created to introduce Mexican food and Latin culture to the world”. They have three outlets in Singapore – Asia Square Tower 2 and Chevron House. The outlet at Star Vista is their third.
The Korean wave continues to sweep across Singapore and has now reached South Beach. The hip Mexican fusion restaurant from Seoul, Vatos Urban Tacos, has just opened an outlet in the South Beach Quarter. It offers a variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas as well a good range of craft beers and magaritas. The idea for Vatos Urban Tacos apparanetly sprang from the bellies of three Korean-Americans who had lived in California and Texas and wanted to start a Mexican restaurant in Seoul. Their Korean Mexican fusion restaurant with unique dishes like Kimchi Carnitas Fries, Galbi Tacos and Spicy Chicken Quesadillas quickly became wildly popular in Korea.
