Amiral Atelier Paragon – a breathe of fresh air in a crowded city

The Paragon at Orchard Road hosts some of the major names in the Singapore F&B business, names like Ding Tai Fung, Crystal Jade and Imperial Treasures, PS Cafe etc. We were looking for something to eat but were hoping to try something less well-known. That was when we came across Amiral Atelier Paragon. It looked like it could be a bakery, a cake shop or a cafe. On closer examination, it turned out to be a mix of all three, but mainly a cake shop.

Isetan Scotts Food Hall – Sweet Potatoes, Cakes & Bread

Isetan Scotts Food Hall is quite small but it is a vibrant and interesting place to explore. Located in the basement supermarket, there is a bakery and a pastry section where colourful products are beautifully presented. If you are on a tight budget or on a strict diet, don’t go there. We stumbled into Isetan Scotts Food Hall and spent more than we should and ended up eating more than we could afford.

They must be doing something right.

Mad About Sucre, French restaurant and patisserie in Chinatown

Mad About Sucre Singapore - 24

Mad About Sucre is a delightful French restaurant and patisserie. Many may already know about the pastry skills of the chefs there. With decades of working in Paris and having a name that proclaims that they are “mad about sugar”, one can presume that they will be good with producing the sweet stuff. We heard that they had recently started serving regular warm food in addition to their famous desserts and so we headed to Mad About Sucre for lunch recently.

The Coffee Daily – tiny cafe in Serangoon Garden

The Coffee Daily-18

The Coffee Daily is a small little cafe tucked away in a row of shophouses that is a distance away from the central round-about area of Serangoon Garden. It is located along Brighton Crescent, which is at the edge of the Serangoon Garden estate, near Yio Chu Kang Road. It is a cafe which we had not been to in a long while. We dropped in to see if it anything has changed.
