Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo – an amazing place to have coffee

Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo was the largest Starbucks store in the world for several months. When it opened in early 2019, the huge 32,000 sq ft, four-storey roastery / cafe overtook the one in Shanghai to claim the largest Starbucks store title. But they did not hold it for long. The current holder of largest Starbucks cafe in the world title is the 35,000 sq ft Chicago Reserve Roastery which opened in November 2019.

Joe & Dough – cake and coffee in PLQ Mall and DUO Galleria

Home-grown cafe Joe & Dough seems to be everywhere. Started in 2009 by founders Damien Koh and his wife Dawn, they have grown the business from a small outlet to a network of 11 outlets all over Singapore. We visited Joe & Dough on a number of occasions, the most recent being visits to the outlets in PLQ Mall and DUO Galleria.

Four Hip Cafes at Upper Thomson / Sin Ming Road

These are the four hip cafes near the Upper Thomson / Sin Ming Road junction. These eateries come to mind when we are thinking of where to go for brunch, a simple meal or just a fresh cup of coffee in that area. They are within walking distance of each other among the rows of shops that line both sides of Upper Thomson Road. There are also many other restaurants nearby and these four cafes provide a place to chit chat over dessert and coffee after dinner.

Brunch at Columbus Coffee Co. – hip cafe at Upper Thomson / Sin Ming Road

Columbus Coffee Co is a spacious cafe along Upper Thomson Road, near the junction with Sin Ming Road. There are many eateries in this part of Singapore but Columbus stands out as one of the more attractive restaurants here. It has a nice uncluttered atmosphere. The kind of place that makes me want to bring a laptop and laze away the hot afternoon in a/c comfort. We were there for brunch and a few people looked like they have the same idea.
