10 at Claymore is a modern bistro in Pan Pacific Orchard. It is popular dining destination at the edge of the Orchard Road Shopping belt and is particularly well-loved for its buffet spreads. It has buffet themes like “Oyster & Lobster Occasions”, “Indulgent Afternoons”. For lunch, 10 at Claymore currently has an international buffet with a selection of their signature Penang items.
Located on the lobby level of the Pan Pacific Orchard hotel, 10 at Claymore looks spiffy and contemporary. We were there on a weekday and during lunch time. The restaurant was not crowded. The patrons were mostly hotel guests and the business types in elegant office wear. There was not long lines at the food counters.
The Buffet Lunch is priced at $42++ Monday to Friday; and $48++ Saturday and Sunday. The lunch buffet has an international spread with the bonus of Penang dishes like Peddler’s Char Kway Teow, Penang Assam Laksa and Prawn Noodle Broth.
The buffet food stations are well spread out throughout the large restaurant. It means that there is a fair bit of walking to the various stations but the place don’t feel congested even if lines formed at a few of the food counters. Anyway, walking a little may not be a bad thing in view of the vast array of tempting food on offer.
There is the usual cold seafood section. You can design your own salad bowl with the good range of colourful vegetables, dressings and condiments available.
Starters like smoked salmon and salami are available. You can also make your own gado-gado and kueh pie tees.
There is the mandatory Japanese station. Fresh and premium cuts of thick slices of sashimi will be served by the chef at the station. A variety of sushi is available. The roast meat station looks very inviting.
There are hot food cooking stations. The Penang assam laksa with its tasty and tangy broth is a must try. Don’t forget to ask for the Penang Char Kway Teow.
The spread of hot Asian & International delicacies is varied and includes black vinegar pig trotter, breaded fish with Sriracha mayo, Nyonya fried rice as well as the more usual lagsana, braised duck, beef and shell-fish.
There is a crepes and pancake station. The Nutella crepes and durian crepes are really good. The durian crepes involved generous dollops of good quality durian. For durian lovers, the durian crepes alone may be worth the price of the lunch buffet at 10 at Claymore.
There is a good variety of desserts and fruits. Even their coffee is quite good, not the diluted version commonly served during buffet.
10 at Claymore’s buffet spread of international dishes and local favourites is varied and interesting. The quality of the food is good and enjoyable. The restaurant does not feel congested and we like the rather calm atmosphere. The weekday day price for the lunch buffet s reasonable; and currently UOB Card holders can enjoy discounts. 10 at Claymore’s buffet is good food and a good deal. Don’t go there if you are on a diet.
