Penang Hawkers’ Fare 2017 at York Hotel is here again. It is a recurring event and the current run is from 1 to 17 September 2017. Penang Hawkers’ Fare Buffet 2017 is almost exactly the same as the Penang street food buffet presented in previous years. There are still queues for the tempting Gurney Drive hawker food but the lines move quite quickly and everyone there seems really happy.
We have a post about Penang Hawkers’ Fare at York Hotel 2016. Almost everything stated there would still apply. You can use old post and this current post to play the game of “Spot the Difference”. The one main difference we spotted is that the Pasembur stall is missing this year; the popiah stall is the replacement. Another difference is that they have opened up function rooms to cater to the ever growing crowd.
The prices are still the same – Weekdays (Monday to Friday) : $29++ for an Adult and $20++ for a Child below 12 years; Weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and Public Holidays: $33++ (Adult) and $23++ (Child).
There are 12 stalls at Penang Hawkers’ Fare 2017. We will just show you the photos of the various items we tried. Every dish is worth trying. The Lor Bak, which also included yam fritters and sweet potato fritters, was still one of our favourite items.
The popiah is the Penang Hokkien-style spring roll with fillings which include with prawn , turnip, bean curd and boiled egg.
The Penang Hawkers’ Fare 2017 buffet includes a free flow of bandung and calamansi juice. Coffee, tea and other beverages will be charged.
Penang Hawkers’ Fare Buffet 2017 at York Hotel is popular for the simple reason that the food is of good standard and delicious. Whether a particular dish is as good as the best you can find in Penang’s Gurney Drive is debatable. In Singapore, the Penang street food they serve at Penang Hawkers’ Fare is probably as good as it gets.
