Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice Takeaway, Char Siew & Dumplings

Wee Nam Kee chicken rice, char siew and dumplings is our tar pow of the day (TPOTD). Famous for their chicken rice, Wee Nam Kee Restaurant at United Square is a convenient place to get takeaway food when we are in this part of Singapore. Apart from chicken, their other food items are also pretty good.

Compared to the early days of COVID, Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice restaurant’s takeaway procedures have improved even more and and our takeaway experience went like clockwork. The dining furniture in the restaurant have been cleared (picture above), creating a spacious place where it is easy to maintain a distance. Some chairs are available for waiting customers. Here is a picture of our tar pow purchase from WNK. Being creatures of habit, we seem to always buy the same things from them. The chicken rice is nice but the char siew and the dumplings are even better. Deep-fried prawn rolls (hae chor, $8.50) serve as tasty appetisers.

You can tell from the pictures that everything was very good. In terms of preference, we would rank the soup dumplings as the best. The dumplings were packed separate from the soup so they dont get soggy. The next thing we like at WNK is the chicken rice. It is tasty and each grain of rice still maintains its shape and texture.

We like the char siew more than the chicken at Wee Nam Kee. In fact we may order chicken rice without the chicken next time. A simple Wee Nam Kee chicken rice takeaway with dumplings and char siew would be satisfying enough.
