Today we will tell you about our Choupinette French restaurant takeaway lunch. This little cafe along Bukit Timah Road, Singapore offers a $26 set lunch with a discount of 10% for takeaway.
Choupinette @ Bukit Timah
We had written about Choupinette before. You can read about our visit in our earlier post which also contains more pictures and information about the cafe. With all the recent COVID announcements we decided to order a couple of set lunches for takeaway. We placed our order by telephone and drove by to pick it up. Choupimette’s location along the side lane is convenient for a quick stop and pick-up run. Here is a photo of the daily specials menu at the cafe.
Takeaway and Delivery Options
With dining out restricted and discouraged in Singapore, the remaining options are to cook at home or to get takeaway or delivery food. Since French food is not within our limited culinary abilities, a simple French restaurant takeaway was our only option. Some incentives such as a 20% discount for pick up of mains and 10% off the set lunch are available. Here are pictures of some of the flyers spotted at Choupinette.
Our French Restaurant Takeaway Lunch
Here is a picture of a page from the menu. You can find the full restaurant menu on the page. The $26 two-course French restaurant takeaway lunch offers a choice of soup or salad, a choice of mains and coffee or tea. We selected a soup and salad and our choices of mains were duck confit and lasagna.
Other than the lasagna, the meal was as close to eating it at the restaurant as reasonably possible. If the food is served on proper tableware, it would be close to dining in a restaurant at home. The mushroom soup and salad were as good as how they tasted at the restaurant. The salad which contained pieces of cheese and ham was served in quite a generous portion.
The main courses were too nice to be eaten out of disposable containers. Once released from the boxes, they looked rather restaurant-like. The duck (picture above) was the better choice as the taste and texture was very good. The lasagna had some hardness at the corners. Possibly as a result of being reheated in a microwave (?) and should be eaten immediately. We would probably avoid this as a takeaway item in the future. Other than that, we were very satisfied with our French restaurant takeaway lunch from Choupinette. They waited till we turned up before preparing the cappuccino. which was a thoughtful gesture.
