Porsche, Baker & Cook may sound like a sequel to the bestselling book “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”. We would be curious to know if any one has sold his Porsche to become a baker or a cook. However, this post is about Café Carrera, a collaboration between the iconic German car manufacturer, Porsche, and homegrown bakery cafe chain, Baker & Cook. Café Carrera offers a unique dining experience, because of its special setting.

Café Carrera @ Porsche Studio

Nestled within Porsche Studio’s brand new two-storey space at Guoco Midtown, Café Carrera is a first-of-its-kind Porsche concept globally. Porsche Studios are designed to be more than just car showrooms – they are intended to be immersive brand experiences. You can browse the latest models, pick up Porsche merchandise and learn about Porsche’s heritage and future direction. At Porsche Studio Singapore, you can also refuel at Café Carrera.

The cafe’s main counter sits on the ground floor. There you can order and pay for your food and drinks before settling in for a spot of car-watching or people-watching. Head upstairs and you’ll find another bar counter.

Both the ground floor and upper floor offer various seating options. These include tribune seating by the main counter, scattered tables of various sizes, and even tables at an inviting sheltered outdoor space.

Menu of Café Carrera
The cafe features an exclusive menu curated by Baker & Cook. Their website says the menu draws inspiration from Porsche’s German roots and Baker & Cook flavours. You will find a selection of pastries and cakes as well as light bites and all-day brunch options like chia seed bowls, avocado toast and pastas. Some food items feature the iconic Porsche crest and other menu items have Porsche-themed names. Fortunately, the menu avoids ‘Porsche price tags’ and aligns more closely with the prices found at Baker & Cook cafes.

Brunch at Café Carrera

We recently visited Café Carrera for brunch. We ordered the Pepperoni Pizza Party ($14) and Cheeseburger Sliders with Fries ($14.80), as well as a Long Black ($5) and Flat White ($5.10). The menu prices included GST, but a service charge would be added to the bill.

The pizza had a somewhat airy yet crispy crust. It was topped with a rich, tangy tomato sauce and smokey pepperoni. It was a simple classic pizza but each bite was a delightful combination of textures and flavours.

The Cheeseburger Sliders had juicy burger patties layered with delectable toppings. They were scrumptious. The thin fries were expertly prepared. Their rendition of the classic fries was better than those typically found in many other cafes.

The barista-brewed coffee was good – rich, aromatic, and a nice complement to the meal. Perhaps dining amidst the gleaming luxury cars added an extra layer of enjoyment to our experience and made everything taste better.

Good Pitstop
We had a surprisingly affordable and satisfying brunch experience, all enjoyed amidst the company of beautiful luxury cars. Café Carrera @ Porsche Studio cleverly taps into two things many Singaporeans are passionate about: food and cars. This winning combination should make Café Carrera by Baker & Cook @ Porsche Studio a popular pitstop.

At the beginning, I looked around me and I couldn’t find my dream car. So I decided to build it myself.
