Tucked away on Purvis Street, Pinhole Coffee Bar is a cafe that you could easily walk past without noticing. The only giveaway of its true nature might be a group of patrons perched on the mismatched wooden furniture outside, savouring their cups of coffee.
Minimalist Interior
Pinhole Coffee Bar has a clean, minimalist interior with wooden accents. A coffee bar with a few seats allows for interaction with the baristas. Additional seating is available at a table in the back and along a bench by the wall.
Minimalist Menu
The menu is simple – coffee, tea, chocolate, pastries and the occasional bakes. They keep things interesting by collaborating with other local food and beverage businesses. Past collaborations have included limited time offerings of bagel-wiches, sandos, and even apple crumble with fancy ice cream.
Coffee enthusiasts will appreciate their rotating international roaster program. Every now and then, Pinhole puts the spotlight on a specific region, showcasing coffee and roasters from countries like Costa Rica, Indonesia, and Norway, all the way to places such as Melbourne, Osaka, and Busan. They also have guest baristas from all over the world from time to time.
Coffee & Cookie
On my recent visit, I opted for a smooth and mild Latte ($5.50), and a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie ($7). The cookie had a soft and chewy centre with a delightful hint of crispness around the edges. The pairing was just perfect for a quick refuelling stop in mid afternoon.
Pinhole Coffee Bar opens its doors early, at 8 am, seven days a week. This makes it the perfect spot for those in the Purvis Street neighbourhood seeking a cup of good coffee to jumpstart their morning. It is also a charming cafe for a mid-morning pick-me-up or a relaxing mid-afternoon break. Coffee enthusiasts will want to keep an eye on their rotating international roaster schedule. Talented baristas, both Singaporean and international, brew specialty coffees from all corners of the globe, ensuring there is always something new to discover.
