Lunch With CDC Vouchers at Tiong Bahru Market Food Centre

We headed for lunch with 2026 (June) CDC Vouchers at Tiong Bahru market and food centre. Many of the stalls there accept vouchers. On this visit we tried lor mee and boneless chicken rice as the main course. We rounded up our meal with a slice of red bean pancake and kopi siew tai.

It is easy to spend the 2026 CDC Vouchers for supermarkets. But the regular vouchers required some research. We consulted the Where to spend CDC vouchers? website for assistance and was happy to see that there is a large number of businesses at Tiong Bahru market and food centre that accepts CDC vouchers 2026. The map shows 164 participating vendors. Even discounting the ground floor retail shops and market fresh produce stalls, it would seem that a high percentage of the 80 or so food stalls at level 2 of the Tiong Bahru food centre would accept our CDC vouchers.

Most of our readers would be familiar with the Tiong Bahru food centre that is located on level 2. The wet market sits on level one.

A major renovation a few years ago had improved the look and layout of the place. The tables outdoors are protected by parasols but they were deserted, overwhelmed by the super heatwave we experienced recently. We were there on a weekday lunch. The food centre was bustling but not overly crowded.

Tiong Bahru Food Center Layout

To help you locate the stalls, let me explain the layout of this large hawker centre in Tiong Bahru.

Tiong Bahru Food Center

The main entrance is situated at the junction of Seng Poh Road and Eng Hoon Street. Here, the dual escalators take visitors up and down the food centre.

At the top of the escalators on level 2, one can find the first stall unit number #02-01 – a popular Hokkien mee vendor Hong Heng Fried Sotong Prawn Mee. The stalls are arranged in a circular manner and the unit numbers go upwards along the stalls in a clockwise direction.

Until we reach the last stall that is next to the other side of the dual escalators, unit #01-83 Lao Chen Carrot Cake and Popiah.

At the time of our visit, the most popular stall was Fooโ€™s Hainanese Curry Rice. It had a queue of more than 15 people. It is a stall we would like to try, but during a less peak hour. For this visit we picked two stalls that had a short queue.

Dining with CDC Vouchers at Tiong Bahru – Lor Mee and Chicken Rice

Tiong Bahru Lor Mee is a stall we are familiar with and have tried before. It had long queues before but this time there were only 3 or 4 people in the queue. The CDC Voucher Accepted sticker was on the display and so we joined the queue, ordering a basic $4 Lor Mee.

The next stall we went to was a stall nearby – Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice which also accepts CDC vouchers. Here we ordered a quarter chicken, one plate of rice and fried bean sprouts. The total price was $16 plus (I canโ€™t remember the exact amount).

We were very pleased with our choices from Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice. The rice was fluffy and fragrant. Beansprouts were crunchy and fresh, providing a good contrast from the chicken. The chicken was tender and cooked just enough. We would have preferred the chicken to be more well cooked, but I think there are many who like their white steamed chicken done this way. Perhaps we should order the roasted version next time.

As for the lor mee, it was more or less similar to how we remember it to be – noodles and assorted condiments include a piece of fried fish in a starchy dark gravy. But this time the gravy seemed to be less complex than it was on previous visits.

Dessert and Coffee

It was quite a heavy lunch for two persons with the food from the two stalls. So a light dessert was all that was needed to complete our meal using CDC Vouchers at Tiong Bahru Market Food Centre.

We bought a slice of min jiang kueh or red bean pancake ($1.30) and coffee from the 238 Coffee Stall. We did not use CDC vouchers for these purchases as the amount was quite small.
